The Malaysia Women & Girls Forum
Since 2020, the Malaysia Women and Girls Forum (MWGF) has been a bridge connecting stakeholders in public and civil society to address crucial social, economic and political issues and solutions for the advancement of Malaysia’s women and girls.
This year’s MWGF will see us shaking things up in a 60 minute special feature, including Ministerial interviews and boardroom discussions with academics, members of civil society & other stakeholders.
With a focus on three main areas for women and girls’ empowerment – economic opportunity; legislation and gender equality; and education, gender norms and awareness,’MWGF: The Review’ will draw on our panellists’ expertise and insights as we discuss, review, and draw on the resolutions of the three previous iterations of MWGF (shown below).

Economic Empowerment Of Women
This segment will address various post-pandemic measures taken for women’s Economic Empowerment; their importance to national development, and the gaps that remain when it comes to increasing Malaysia’s FLFPR (Female Labour Force Participation Rate). Other issues addressed include: institutionalising the care economy, adopting Gender-Responsive Budgeting (GRB) and introducing Parental Leave.
Legislating Gender Equality
This segment will examine former and recently introduced laws that strongly impact the advancement of Gender Equality in Malaysia, such as the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act, the Anti Stalking Law, and the issue of Equal Citizenship Rights.
CSE, Gender Norms & Awareness
How can we ensure the best outcomes from policy and legislative changes? This segment will explore effective strategies and implementation policies, with choice highlights on the roles of the education system and family unit in dispelling stereotypes, instilling healthier gender dynamics, and improved Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in schools.
